Guided by Conviction

Some decisions take years to prove themselves.

As the sixth generation of my family to cultivate tea, I grew up believing that truly good tea should be both natural and beneficial to those who drink it. That belief eventually led us to make a decision that many considered impossible at the time: to grow tea without pesticides.

The transition was far from easy. During the first several years, our fields suffered significant pest damage, and we were forced to prune, replant, and rethink our approach repeatedly. There were moments when the easier path would have been to return to conventional methods.

Instead, we chose to continue.

Gradually, the ecosystem began to change. Beneficial insects returned, natural balances were restored, and the tea plants became stronger and more resilient. What initially seemed like a setback became proof that nature, when given time, can often find its own equilibrium.

This experience shaped my philosophy as a tea grower. Rather than seeking short-term solutions, I focus on cultivating long-term health—for the fields, the surrounding environment, and the people who ultimately enjoy our tea. We even developed our own fertilizer blend with carefully controlled nitrogen levels, designed to support healthy growth while preserving flavor, safety, and ecological balance.

In recent years, we began selling tea directly so that we could share these values more openly with customers. For me, tea is not simply an agricultural product. It is a reflection of the choices we make and the responsibility we carry toward future generations.

My hope extends beyond our own farm. I would like to see more producers embrace safe, sustainable cultivation and help more people discover the true character of Asamiya tea.

Every cup we produce is the result of patience, perseverance, and a belief that nature is worth trusting.
