Sharing Gratitude Through Tea
Tea is one of the simplest ways we express care for one another.
Whether offered to a guest, shared among family, or enjoyed in a quiet moment alone, every cup carries something beyond flavor. To me, tea reflects the thoughts of the person who grew it, the care of the person who prepares it, and the appreciation of the person who receives it.
Our tea farm is located along the Hino River in Shiga Prefecture, where fertile soil and clean water have shaped the landscape for generations. From the beginning, I have chosen to cultivate tea organically, believing that the purity of the environment should be reflected in the tea itself.
Rather than relying on pesticides or artificial inputs, I nurture the fields using natural fertilizers such as fish compost and rapeseed oil cake. These methods require patience and careful observation, but they allow me to produce tea that honestly expresses both the land and the values behind it.
For me, tea cultivation is built on trust—trust in nature, trust in the growing process, and trust in the people who choose to drink what we produce. That trust is something I never take for granted.
Beyond the tea fields, I also visit local schools to introduce children to Japanese tea culture. By teaching them how to brew and appreciate tea, I hope to pass along not only knowledge, but also an understanding of the thoughtfulness and respect that tea can inspire.
My wish is simple: that every cup brings warmth, connection, and gratitude. If tea can help people slow down, appreciate the present moment, and feel closer to one another, then I believe it has served its purpose.
