Meeting with the Mayor of Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture
We had the opportunity to speak with the mayor of Yame City and to share the vision behind WTEA.
During our discussion, we found strong resonance with WTEA’s concept and explored whether tea could serve as a tool to help address local administrative and regional challenges. The conversation extended beyond matcha to include the potential of promoting Yame’s renowned gyokuro, opening up ideas for future collaboration and development.
We were also graciously gifted a precious, traditionally produced Yame gyokuro. Its depth of flavor and elegance left a lasting impression and reaffirmed the cultural and agricultural value embedded in the region’s tea heritage.
The meeting reinforced our belief that working in partnership with local governments is essential to meaningful regional revitalization. By connecting tea culture, administration, and long-term vision, we hope to contribute—together—to sustainable local growth and a stronger global presence for Yame tea.
