At first, Yoshiaki Wada never thought he would become a tea farmer. He watched his parents work hard and chose instead to spend 20 years as a teacher. But when his father grew older, he decided to continue the family’s tea tradition.
Few farmers practiced pesticide-free cultivation at the time, yet Wada felt strongly about creating safe, high-quality tea. Over five to six years, he borrowed land from his parents and carefully built his methods, guided by the belief that plants thrive best when in harmony with nature.
“I want our tea plants to grow happily, and for those who drink our tea to feel joy and peace in their daily lives,” he says. Today, his focus is not only on raising the quality of organic, high-grade tea but also on creating a satoyama community where farming can be enjoyed.
His tea is both a reflection of his journey and an invitation—for people seeking a calm, harmonious life to share in that happiness with each cup.
